Bodawear; inspired by the 60's

Historical Project

During her second year at Westminster Fashion, Ruby took on the 'Historical' Fashion Project. The goal was to create a look inspired by an important element of her past.

For this project, Ruby decided to look into her family background, and having an  Indian grandad and German / Polish grandma, she wanted to look into the history of how they met.  With her grandma having been a dress maker for most of her life, Ruby was always surrounded by clothes, sewing machines, and the ideology of make-do-and-mend. Hence, her inspiration to become a designer. But most importantly , the concept behind the project was her grandparents love story. Taking inspirations from 1960’s floral prints and iconic knitted jumpers, Ruby looked back at the family photo albums to create her sixties inspired prints and silhouettes.
